Everybody knows the first Final Fantasy released for Famicom (or NES in USA) on December 18, 1987 in Japan.  A dream team was in commands : Nobuo Uematsu, Hironobu Sakaguchi and Yoshitaka Amano.

But do you know there was a version for MSX-2 computer exclusively in Japan ? Released on June 1, 1989, it was converted by Microcabin.

Final Fantasy I MSX-2

Originality of this version is that main game wasn't on a cartridge, but on a 3.5 inch floppy diskette. In fact, it's the only Final Fantasy game on a floppy diskette, and it's really rare (perhaps the rarest Final Fantasy game ?) There was minor improvement in this version, like upgraded sound and music, or minor upgrade graphics. Also, longer loading time...

Final Fantasy I

Another particularity was save system. it was impossible to save data on main game floppy diskette, so it was necessary to use a blank one. In the box, you could found a sticker to identify your save disk. That's why you could find different color for second diskette on the Net : mine is blue, some are black. Si if you're looking for this collector item, be sure to check the sticker, if there is not a second floppy :)
